How to Make a Wedding Floral Hoop
Floral hoops are the circular alternative to traditional arches. They're lighter, easier to install, and have a distinctly modern feel. This guide covers building both a large ceremony hoop (3–4 feet wide) and smaller decorative hoops.

Step by step
- 1
Prep the metal hoop
Clean the hoop and identify the 'top' where the ribbon or chain will attach. Mark the starting point for your floral design — usually one upper-third position.
- 2
Wire the greenery base
Start with silver dollar eucalyptus. Wrap stems around a third of the hoop, securing with floral wire every few inches. Work from the top-right downward.
- 3
Add the focal cluster
At the center of the greenery span, attach 2–3 focal flowers (spray rose, garden rose) clustered tightly together. This is the visual anchor.
- 4
Layer secondary flowers
Add lisianthus and smaller blooms around the focal cluster, feathering outward along the greenery. Use floral wire to secure each stem.
- 5
Finish the opposite side (optional)
For a balanced hoop, add a smaller cluster on the opposite side (bottom-left). For asymmetric, leave it bare.
- 6
Attach hanging ribbon
Tie a ribbon or chain to the top of the hoop for hanging. Ribbon length depends on where the hoop will be suspended — from a tree branch, an arbor, or an indoor beam.

Pro tips
Keep focal flower clusters concentrated in one or two areas — spreading them thin dilutes the look.
Use smaller hoops (18–24 inches) for bridesmaid 'bouquet alternatives' — they carry one like a purse.
Let trailing greenery extend below the hoop for movement.
Common mistakes to avoid
Covering the entire hoop in flowers — defeats the purpose of the circular frame.
Using stems that are too heavy — the hoop tips out of balance.
Not using water tubes for fresh stems — they dry out fast without hydration.
