How to Decorate a Wedding Arch With Flowers

Step by step
- 1
Evaluate the existing arch
Walk around the arch. Note the material (wood, metal, bamboo), the size, and the focal points where floral clusters will look best. Ask the client what they want covered.
- 2
Plan the design density
Decide whether the arch will have a single corner cluster, two asymmetric clusters, or full drape. Most clients think they want full coverage but prefer the asymmetric look once they see it.
- 3
Mount foam anchor points
Zip-tie foam cages at your chosen anchor spots. For a single corner cluster, one cage is enough. For two corners, use two cages positioned diagonally.
- 4
Build greenery base
Start with eucalyptus and italian ruscus. Let greenery flow away from the anchor point in both directions for 12–18 inches.
- 5
Add focal clusters
Cluster garden roses and spray roses at the anchor point. Work in tight groups, not spread out. Anchored visual weight is what reads 'intentional.'
- 6
Fill and finish
Use lisianthus to bridge between the focal cluster and the greenery. Step back, mist, adjust any gaps.

Pro tips
When the arch is a rental, NEVER use nails, staples, or adhesives. Only zip ties and floral wire.
The corner cluster takes 40% of the materials of a full arch build — price accordingly.
Save 15 minutes at the end for 'touch-up' — small stems to fix any visible mechanics.
Common mistakes to avoid
Damaging rental arches with aggressive mechanics.
Trying to cover 100% of an arch that looks beautiful unadorned.
Not communicating 'corner cluster' vs 'full cover' clearly with the client in the proposal.
